Let’s start with the name of the organization. First of all, this name is connected with the history of pedagogy, videlicet, with the widely spread trend – the Enlightenment, which was founded in the XIX century in France. Thanks to it in Europe and Russia the educational level of the many people grew up. Everybody knows that the greatest public men (scientists, writers, thinkers) of the epoch of the Enlightenment thought that the upbringing was one of the most important ways to improve the society. This idea and effect of the educative activity of that epoch had become the leading motive of Yaroslavl regional social organization «The Enlightenment».

The foundation day of YRSO «The Enlightenment» for support of children’s homes, boarding schools and orphanages in educational sphere, like a juridical person, is the 27^th of November of 2007.

The first piculiarity of the activity of the organization: it was organized by pupils of children’s homes. From the very beginning and up to nowadays  the base of organization are pupils, students-volunteers and teachers.

The second singularity: «The Enlightenment» developed and realized author projects for pupils and tutors of children’s homes. 3 main complex projects for 10 children’s homes of our region have been realizing since 2007 – «The organization of general informational center» (which includes the event of creation of this site), «The organization of  public center of water tourism for children who are not socially defended », «The development of a laboratory of art and work». The base of this projects was the social program «We Are Together» in memoriam of V. Haritonov (2005-2007, look through www.pomosh-detyam.by.ru). In addition to this projects our organization systematically arrange training seminars for students, pupils and teachers of children’s homes, confections where they discuss different topics which are connected with the problems of children’s home. Some parts of this projects are financed by the administration of the region. And some of them are supported by the government, some charitable and commercial organizations.

The third singularity: One of the greatest results of activity of YRSO is that most of pupils of children’s homes have become active members of our organization. They are authors of projects, assistants of organizers. For instance, Olga Morozova (one of the leavers of children’s home №1 of  Ribinsk) has become a leader of one of the seven – day`s rafts in 2008. There was formed a rafting team  of pupils and leavers of children’s homes (of the 3rd category). Besides, the work flotilla in memoriam of V.Haritonov had been started. The activity of YRSO «The Enlightenment» is connected with the work of children’s homes, orphanages, public and state organizations all over Russia. Creation of this site is one of the first steps. In addition, in perspective, our organization with the «Fond of Anatolii Lisiczin for the Support of Investments and Social Projects» are ready to offer interregional charitable project – Web portal «The World Is Not Enough» for social adaptation of pupils of children’s home and orphanages, which was created with the help of Yaroslavl Demidov State University. This project is one of the points of more complex project «The Organization of General Informational Center».
